One of my favorite elements is the history of the Heart Queen. Her ability to make others feel what she feels makes her power both fascinating and frightening, while her betrayal and the emotional storm that followed give the legend a darker, more emotional dimension. It makes you wonder how the events of the past connect to the dangers facing Alaria centuries later.
The disappearances around Barrowton, the mysterious Seven Stars, the legendary sword, and the ominous warning all work together to keep the reader curious about what will happen next. There is a wonderful feeling that every legend and every clue is connected to something much bigger.
